The University of Carthage is a Tunisian training and research university with the status of public administrative institution under the authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Founded in1988 under the name of the University of Law, Economics, and management Tunis III, it became in 2011 the University of Carthage.

 

Presently, the University of Carthage includes 35 institutions of higher education and research that offer education and research programs in a wide array of disciplines and sub-disciplines in sciences and humanities such as engineering, law, economics, management, computer sciences, social sciences, letters, languages, art and young learners pedagogy.

 

For the academic year 2012-2013, student enrolment at the University of Carthage are in the order of 42969, who benefit from continuously updated training program and take advantage of various opportunities to improve their scientific and technological knowledge as well as exercise their creativity and capacity for innovation. Through a number of productive partnership and cooperation agreements both at the local and international levels, the university is well integrated in its national and international socio-economic and cultural environments.

  • to meet the needs of the country as regards formation, to produce and spread the knowledge and to develop the aptitudes in different fields;
  • to develop knowledge, to master the technology and to promote it by the research and to encourage the innovation, individual and collective creation in the different fields of knowledge;
  • to ensure scientific, educational and administrative coordination between the establishments which are related to;
  • to take part in the actions of development of the country, to support the different sectors of national activity and to prepare the students to the creation of projects and economic companies;
  • to encourage the cultural, sport and social activities;
  • to establish ties of partnership and cooperation with the similar organizations in the world in order to found Co-diplomas, to direct in Co-supervision of the research works leading to university diplomas, to exchange experts and expertise and to carry out common research in connection with the development priorities.

The University of Monastir (UM) was founded in 2004. It includes 16 university establishments (9 institutes and 5 faculties) distributed among the governorates of Monastir and Mahdia. The University of Monastir is certainly a valuable asset that will be a great contribution for availing the knowledge society.

As a multidisciplinary university, UM offers a wide range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate’s level (81 undergraduates, 25 Masters and 9 doctorates). The University of Monastir has about 2018 teachers, 997 as administrative staff and 26089 students. About 1% of the total students are foreign (208 foreign students).

The University with accredited research structures (23 Laboratories, 26 unities and 4 doctoral schools) and with almost 804 teachers Researchers and more than 901 (2012/2013) involved in doctorates offers to the region the third pole of research in Tunisia.

Erasmus Mundus - Al Idrisi II is a project for exchange and cooperation between Europe and North Africa that provided scholarships for undergraduate and master students, doctoral candidates, post-doctoral fellows and academic and administrative staff. The third and last call for applications closed in January 2016.
